We are always pleased to receive feedback from those using our products in the field. Here is what one customer had to say:

“I was apprehensive about the roof replacement as the steel was more expensive than shingles. I am an average home handy man, 60 years old. Though I had done several shingle and a couple agricultural steel roofs, this would be the first using snap-lock steel. Trimet helped in a big way as I measured the roof and prepared the order. I found it very convenient to be able to buy the steel, flashings, Emseal and butyl tapes, plus all the screws and some of the penetration seals all in one order.

The steel arrived very well packed in a wooden crate/skid, and had been stacked to be able to be used in order from top of the pile to the bottom. All the roof panels were clearly labelled. Panels were separated by soft spacers so I encountered no paint removal due to pieces rubbing against one another. With basic instructions from Trimet and some research on the web, I was able to complete the roof and end up with a quality appearance. The house now looks much more solid, and I know that the lack of exposed fasteners and the folded-under roof edge (make sure you do this as it improves the look of the the eaves) will mean there is a very low chance of leakage through or under this roofing surface. The eave flashings were very strong compared to what is available at local home improvement stores, so I know the roof edge will stay solid for many years.

Looking back, I see a great roofing appearance on our house following a job that was not nearly as difficult as I first thought. I was able to do the job working on my own, from shingle removal through deck preparation (which included ice/water shield at all edges and membrane on the balance), right through to ridge vents and all the little flashing bits: a 1200 square foot house, 125 hours labour. Price-wise, not valuing my sweat equity, the job cost about ¼ what it would have had I used a contractor. I have since looked at a few standing seam steel roofs done by contractors- ours looks better!”
